The Dewatering Institiute (TDI) is thrillled to welcome Ellingson-DTD to its growing global membership community as a new company member.

Ellingson-DTD is the nation’s leading contractor for horizontal remediation well systems, specialising in environmental applications of horizontal directional drilling since its founding in 1996 as Directed Technologies Drilling, Inc. Following acquisition by Ellingson Companies in 2019, the company expanded its personnel and equipment capabilities, enabling broader reach and more robust project support across the industry.

With offices in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Ellingson facilities in West Concord, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota, Ellingson-DTD has completed wells throughout the United States and across multiple European locations. The company leads the industry in installed footage of completed operational wells, and in partnership with Mears/HDD, designed and installed both the longest horizontal remediation wells and the longest horizontal monitoring wells in the world.

A Comprehensive Range of Services

Ellingson-DTD offers a broad suite of trenchless solutions and agricultural drainage services, including:

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

The company is also committed to continual innovation in horizontal remediation systems, with capabilities spanning substrate injection, air sparge, SVE, recirculation systems, dissolved phase removal, and NAPL removal. HDD technology is further utilised for monitor well installation, soil sampling, potable water supply, construction and geotechnical dewatering, coal ash basin drainage, and mine tailings dewatering.

Through a process of thorough project evaluation, planning, and execution, Ellingson-DTD has successfully delivered some of the most challenging construction projects — from farm fields and refinery facilities to major rights of way and congested urban environments — safely, cost-effectively, and with minimal environmental impact.

Beyond environmental remediation, Ellingson-DTD has built a strong reputation in pipeline construction, utility crossings, and water resources. The company is owned and managed by some of the world’s leading authorities in horizontal environmental drilling, and was asked by Vermeer — the world’s largest manufacturer of directional drills — to co-write their comprehensive manual on horizontal remediation wells.

TDI is delighted to have Ellingson-DTD on board and looks forward to the knowledge, expertise, and innovation they bring to our community.
