Project Dewatering Limited

CITIGEN DECARBONISATION PROJECT.

Engineering strategy, Project Dewatering Limited provided an engineering solution to allow drilling of the boreholes in a busy London Street, public-facing, with traffic management and through brick arches beneath the road surface. The brick arches are a historic feature which supports the overlaying road structure and were not suitable for drilling through with larger drilling rigs. Project Dewatering Limited engineering strategy was to build a suitable platform to support the rig and then core through the arches. The arches were sleeved into the vault and then reinstated with the same brick bond and materials on completion of each bore. Drilling in through the vaults meant that the acidization process was modified to allow remote acidization from the street level. No acid was stored on-site due to close proximity to the public, so specific Health and Safety constraints were mitigated. The engineering solution of drilling from road surface made the project viable from a practical and cost position. Without Project Dewatering Limited’s involvement, the project may have been dismissed due to the scale of the road and vault works needed to get a suitably sized rig (capable of drilling to 200m) into the vault area.
