Foundation O2Dit, from the Netherlands.
O2DIT are committed to the most sustainable technology in rainwater infiltration and return drainage.
There are many possibilities to cope with rainwater problems within the urban environment. However, most of the solutions solve the problem, but are not sustainable. With direct discharge to surface water the sweet water cannot be used in future. Slow filtration, till now done without any pre-treatment, will at the end pollute the underground water bodies. The water that will be infiltrated by FHVI is pre-treated. It can be used in future on the spot. But more important, although the investments are higher, the maintenance of FHVI systems is lower than other systems. During the project different innovations have been carried out. The filters have been optimized, and the pre-treatment system is developed. The workforce conditions have also been optimized. FHVI has become a grown-up technology, and the system is demonstrated on a big scale.
