Free TDI Webinar: Tailings processing and creation of PASTE. (Impact in mining happens at NAIT Applied Research).
To elevate the quality and standards of the worldwide dewatering industry and foster knowledge transfer within the fraternity, TDI offers a selection of free webinar training programs. These courses are developed in partnership with our members, tailored for our members, supporters, and the widespread dewatering community.
The presenter, Dr. Heather Kaminsky – P.Eng. PhD. NSERC IRCC in Oil Sands Tailings Management, TACEES, will discuss the following topic:
Tailings processing and creation of PASTE: Impact in mining happens at NAIT Applied Research.
Dr. Heather Kaminsky, will be deling into the complex impact of clays on mining operations. Clays influence every stage of the mining process, from tailings processing to site closure, and Dr. Kaminsky can help you understand the science behind predicting clay-related issues and avoiding geotechnical operational emergencies.
Heather Kaminsky is the oil sands “Queen of Clay”. She have a strong background in oil sands processing, tailings planning, tailings treatment, flocculation, materials characterization, clay mineralogy, and oil sands mineralogy.
In her current role she actively help evaluate new technologies (especially tailings chemicals) for application in oil sands processes. Heather can help advise to the best applications for a new technology and provide independent evaluation to determine how they perform relative to industry standards.
Heather is working towards her own Vision 2030 – where by 2030 fluid fine tailings in oil sands are no longer a concern as reclamation methods will have been found and implemented to return the tailings pond to a useable boreal ecosystem.
As a side interest she also love to help connect people – she love it when connections create “research babies” or when I can help someone find a good fit for a job/candidate.
Specialties: Public speaking, teaching, mentoring, chairing/moderating meetings, organization of people and data, solid/liquid separation, clay mineralogy, oil sands tailings processes, technology evaluation.
The training session will take place Wednesday the 31th of July 2024, at 4 – 5pm SAST.
Registrations will close at 12pm (SAST) on the 31st of July 2024, so please be sure to register before this time. Feel free to make use of this time zone converter to not miss out on the webinar.
